AS Preliminary Task

AS Preliminary Task

The first shot was match on action shot, where we cut form one shot to another to show that it matches the first shot. When opening the door, we took two shots one from behind the person opening; following her and then filming another shot where her face was seen. This editing technique creates continuity and realism, rather than matching two separate shots.Problems that faced us during this shot were not fully understanding where the camera, at the end we have concluded that it will be taken into two shots. One where the camera is following the girl from the back and the second shot where the camera shows the girl opening the door and the audience are able to see her face.

The other shot that was created was a shot reverse shot, as it is a continually editing technique that is used when people are in a conversation. This can be seen in the video above, as when the two girls are talking to each other, it shows what the girls are looking at. Then a reverse angle shot is filmed to the other character to show conversation. Problems that faced us, were trying not to move as much to create consistency. We have filmed this particular shots a couple of times to get the best results of a shot reverse shot of the two girls talking.

A shot reverse shot is then followed by 180 degree rule, the purpose is to not distorting the audience sense of location and produce a continued shot. The 180 degree rule is when participants in a scene must have the same right-left relationship to each other. The camera should remain the same side of an imaginary line. Breaking the rule could result in confusion and  losing focus towards audience. We tried as much as possible to not break the rule or otherwise it would create confusion.
